(sniffle)

We had a wonderful weekend at the beach. Amie seemed mildly puzzled by the water moving around her feet, but I think she enjoyed the change of scenery. If you ever want to take your dog to Galveston, be sure you have dinner here, where she was welcome on the delightful patio while we ate interesting sandwiches (especially a salmon club sandwich that reminded me of Scotland) and drank sangria.

Unfortunately, I seem to have caught a cold there. Scratchy throat, sniffles, etc. I gave myself permission to stay home tomorrow.

This has been one of those weeks when retirement sounds really, really good, so Dr. Z is looking forward to hiding out at home tomorrow, maybe sleeping in a bit, and just being a slightly sniffly wife and dog mama.

(Added Thursday morning, 10:15:) Now this is the way to take a sick day: sitting on the back porch with my second cup of coffee and my laptop, admiring the gorgeous agapanthus in full bloom, enjoying Amie's company, the light breeze, and the call and response of the mockingbirds and mourning doves.

I picked peaches this morning, too.

And speaking of agapanthus:

Take care of yourself! Though my husband, the chemist, says they do no good, I always take Airborn. Or zinc tablets and vitamin C. Rest, drink lots of fluids, and go to bed now! Sweet dreams.

Isn't it funny how sometimes a relaxing trip is followed by getting sick?

And that salmon club sandwich sounds deeee-vine.

I am so sorry that you are feelings bad!

Tomato juice and crushed up garlic. It will help.

You may not be missed much after you drink it but it will help.

Thanks for the tip about the Mosquito Cafe--I bet Beatrice would enjoy it, too! Cute and all-too-appropriate name for Galveston.

We also spent last weekend on the coast -- great minds running in the same track again.

Enjoy your time and home and get well soon!

Thanks for the dog-friendly restaurant tip! When The Boy visited me at General Conference, we had to settle for Sonic.

Glad you had fun, and hope you feel much better soon!

My kids get to go to Galveston this weekend. Not me. Wah. Mosquito Cafe rocks, as does Shrimp & Stuff, a locals favorite. I'm jealous.

Oh, I'm sorry you have a cold. I did enjoy the description of Annie at the beach. It reminded me of the first time we took our dog to the ocean last year--except that he wasn't puzzled, he was scared. He got over it thought.
