As you know, I've chaired one of these before. Serving on a PNC can be stressful as members of the congregation keep asking you when you'll have a recommendation. And of course, its a lot of work. But it is also a great privilege to participate in our call process.
So glad you are called to be on this committee. You will be wonderful - faithful to the process, and more importantly, faithful to God, prayerful, and discerning.
I've only been on the other end of the process. But being close to a few who were on the PNC in my home church who were searching for a HoS, I can echo what QG said. After a year of searching, they got lots of "surely one of the candidates you've talked to is good enough?" And my friend would patiently say time & time again, "it's not about finding one who's 'good enough', it's about finding the person whom God wants us to call.
