24

I try really hard not to get hooked on TV shows. I refuse to get caught up in having to sit in front of a box every week at a specific time. My last "must see" was Chicago Hope, which was a long time ago, and before that it was St. Elsewhere, my all time favorite show. Since I love doctor shows, I've resisted getting involved with Grey's Anatomy because if I did I'd have to watch it every week. I've tried to stay away from all the shows people talk about at work, like Lost or, God have mercy, American Idol.

Well, tonight I made the mistake of tuning in to 24 for the very first time. BIG mistake. Oh my gosh, that show is WAY too violent for me, but, well, now I guess I'm going to have to watch it anyway.

(Sorry I have had nothing profound to say lately. Work is frying my brain.)

They say all things in moderation are just fine. This, I certainly hope, includes TV brain candy. I've never tuned in to 24 because I am already into Grey's Anatomy. (Also loved Chicago Hope and St. E. and the early E.R.)

Could you follow 24 without seeing the previous episodes? I've been tempted to watch it but didn't want to spend hours catching up to do it.

Of course I don't know what happened before, but it didn't seem to matter. It was easy to figure out who the characters were, and their relationship to one another.

We jumped in the same way last year and loved it! The trouble is, once you get interested, you find you need the DVD sets...

~hangs head in shame~ I am one of those that you talk about. My brain candy...LOST. Must.Not.Do.Without.It.

Bebo and I have gotten addicted to The 4400 after getting Season 1 and 2 on DVD. OMG...we cannot wait for Season 3 to come out.

My final addiction is The Amazing Race. I am going to be on that show someday....if I can just find a damned partner!

Cheapest place to get DVD sets is at Deep Discount DVD dot com.

But did you watch 24 tonight? Whoa. I missed the first hour but it was easy to figure out what I had missed. I felt totally jerked around, but it was great.

Profundity is over-rated.

My husband is addicted to Idol. I'm into Grey's. It's a mixed marriage.

But we watch "Heros" and "The Lost Room" together. I try to redeem it by finding theological themes (ri-i-i-ght.)

Ginger and I have been 24 watchers since season one. We love it. They used to do the first episode commercial free and we could hardly take it -- we needed the breaks.

I've also gotten hooked on Top Chef.

Peace,
Milton

I miss St. Elsewhere to this day. LH promised that I could see it again on reruns, but this hasn't happened.

I don't watch "24" unless I'm stuck in a room with watchers. Too violent for me and I get caught up in how the cast has to wear the same outfit for an entire season.

I miss "West Wing" bigtime.
